VLF

Very Low Frequency (VLF) electromagnetic surveying detects subsurface conductive features by measuring the secondary magnetic fields induced by powerful VLF radio transmitters, which are located across the globe for for submarine communication. It is particularly effective for identifying linear conductors such as faults, water-bearing fracture zones, and mineralized veins. VLF is lightweight, easy to deploy, and capable of covering large areas quickly.

Applications of VLF

  • Water Resource Exploration:
    Identify potential groundwater-bearing features.
  • Environmental Investigations:
Support environmental investigations by detecting subsurface faults and fractures that can acts as contaminant migration pathways.
  • Geologic Mapping:
Enhance regional and site-specific understanding of subsurface geological structures.
